THESIS CHEMISTRY APPOINTS DR. JORDAN K. ZJAWIONY TO ITS SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD
MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO—February 17, 2003—Thesis Chemistry Inc., a provider of innovative Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC) development services to the pharmaceutical industry, announces that Dr. Jordan K. Zjawiony has joined its Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).

"Dr. Zjawiony is co-inventor of more than ten chemical production processes that are currently being used for the manufacture of human pharmaceuticals. He brings an enormous breadth of experience in drug discovery, the synthesis of complex bioactive molecules and chemical process development that will be invaluable in guiding Thesis Chemistry's scientific direction and supporting our customer projects."

Dr. Zjawiony is a Professor and Research Professor in the Department of Pharmacognosy and the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, The University of Mississippi. He received his chemical education from the Technical University of Lodz, Poland followed by postdoctoral studies in drug discovery at the Gerontology Research Center, National Institutes of Aging, National Institutes of Health, Baltimore, MD. Among his many international service activities, Dr. Zjawiony has been the Director of the Medical and Drug Group of the International Technology Exchange Society (USA-Japan) since 1998 and an expert reviewer in organic chemistry for the National Science Foundation since 1997. Dr. Zjawiony's research interests include the isolation of biologically active components of plants, marine organisms and fungi; the design and synthesis of new compounds of pharmaceutical interest based on natural products models; semi-synthetic transformations of natural products; total synthesis of natural products; combinatorial synthesis of natural product analogues; anticancer agents and antibiotics; antifungal alkaloids; taxol analogs; heterocyclic chemistry; marine natural product chemistry; steroid chemistry; endothelin antagonists, beta-adrenergic antagonists and the other drugs with cardiovascular activity and peptidomimetic synthesis. He is co-author and co-inventor on more than 38 publications and 27 patents, respectively.
